Observations of an Other

I see. I think. I feel.

Dual Nature…

By Jane Tanfei|Mar 10 2014 | Poetry, Thoughts

Duality and how –
I am the guy in westerns
With dead eyes and no regard for anything “sane”.

I am the giant-eyed leather-skinned alien in UFO movies,
Making clicking noises
Make the skin crawl.
Staring, unmoved.

I am the reptilian monster,
Watching from the trees,
Tracking every move in the area –
watching and waiting and calculating.
Maybe slithering by your foot just to creep you out.

I am the form of a duck on the water,
calmly and quietly gliding across the pond –
placid and quiet to all eyes,
but my legs are pumping under the water,
churning to get me where I need to go.

That’s how I really feel,
blank,
empty.

I have the emotions,
but they go by in the background
without any consideration.
